Zbrush weird memory problem?

#1

I have a problem, i have win 7 64 bit, zbrush 4r6, 12 GB ram, i have a mesh in zbrush that has a little above 13 milion polys. I need to export this mesh via the tool (subtool?) export button, into obj, i done it in pass, but this mesh seems to have problems, heres the problem i get:

Im running (almost) only zbrush, so there is a plenty of ram left of my 12 GB for the export

I tried adjusting the preferences-- mem settings, compact mem to the max (4096) MaxPolyPerMesh is 22 Milion (so exporting a 13 milion mesh should not be a problem).

What i am doing wrong? How can i export this mesh?

The ZBrush forum section is here:

You will get better answers there.

  1. Please post software or technique specific questions in the appropriate forums, I’ll move this to ZB for you.

  2. ZB has a 4GB memory limit because it’s still a glorified 32bit app. As of ZB 4r7 there will also be a 64 bit beta, and that should be very close now. Until then, it doesn’t matter that you have 6, 12 or 64GB, you always get stuck at the same ceilings :frowning:

13 million polys seems kind of low for that to happen. A possibility is your mesh may be corrupted somewhere, as that can cause hangups and memory errors.

i would make it a polymesh 3D
Tool>make polymesh 3D
then save as a ztl tool (tool>save as)
then shut zbrush down and re open zbrush then (tool>load tool)and open the .ztl tool and then save as a .obj

do you have a lot of new tools under TOOL
