Zbrush Newbie question: Merge parts of subtool

#1

Hello I’m kinda new to Zbrush and I would like to know if there is a way I can only merge parts of subtools with others.
Here’s my point: I have a character that I split with the Geometry Split tool in order to increase the active points of the head only (the only part where I need many polygons for now,as the rest of the body is quite enough with 14 Mil :scream: ). Everything went allright, except that now I have the thumbs and the head in one subtool when the rest of the body is perfectly merged back. So I have a thumbless body and a head with two floating thumbs. (fml :banghead: )
So the question is,is there any way I can select only those thumbs and merge them with the rest of the body but leave the head as one separate subtool?

Thank you

Try cloning the head/thumb tool.
You will have two identical subtools. Right?

Then select (hold shift+control+drug) the head and delete the hidden geometry (thumbs) on first subtool
Do the same with the second but keep thumbs and delete the head instead.

You will have one subtool for thumbs and one subtool for the head this way.

Now you can append the thumbs on the body and merge

under subtool there is 4 arrows one set is called SELECT up or down
and the other set called MOVE up or down.
you want MOVE and once the 2 objects are on top of each other then you can chose MERGE down.
make sure the top object is active to merge down to the other
