I was wondering if their was a way to render a Y Depth render pass map style pass ? I’m looking for something that just is like a z depth pass but in the y axis.

Yes it is. Would be helpful to know what applications (Maya, Max, Softimage) and renderer (Mental Ray, Vray, Renderman, 3Delight) your using as it’ll be done differently in each application and renderer.

What you want is a postion § pass in camera space. Maya can do this via the sampler info node, no idea with max.

So take my Zdepth pass and add a mask then use a gradient ramp in that mask ? Sounds like that could work. I’ll give it a try (working in photoshop for post)
