XTRM3D little corner

I love the cel shader! Do you mind showing a bit of it? Good color palette as well.
The two previous creatures are sweet as well. Do you use the “studio” render setup that you can buy somewhere (forgot where)? I like the little glowing tube on the character’s side, nice little touch. How heavy is the dyna mesh of that guy?

Shoot me an email at andre@cantarel.de when you have time for the coffee!

Cheers
Andre

Great stuff as usual

Really like the look of that toon style render, could you share some insights on how you achieved it? Thanks

nothing crazy going on right there … standard zbrush shader ( sketch 3 and sketch 4 i think ) plus some compositing in PS …
for more advance stuff like the car i either render my outline in vray or mental ray … + maya toon shader … and then do my compo in PS

check those video i did some time ago for cg channel

no sir , it’s all my own setup in octane for maya …as far as i know , the render setting you are refering are only existing for 3dsmax mental ray/vray …

thx , the dynamesh might be around 2 mill … but at teh end of the day , since i am rendering on gpu … i have to make sure that i stay low anyway … decimation master and zremesh are my best friends

email is on teh way

some more of the boring stuff ,
i really need motion blur in octane soon !!

#226

slow and steady …

That firebird is awesome, great stylization. You need to put that thug character inside, driving with the elbow out of the window

#228

thank you …
yes that would be done … after the uv, riging and shading ,
speaking of shading ,

developing a stylized skin shader with exagerated SSS
seem to be on the right track :arteest:

#229

xtrm3d firebird is great , the character model seems Vin Diesel in fast and furious…

thank you very much … yup … that’s the idea

seem that the stylized skin is working quiet well in different environment

Looks great as usual!
When I see this guy and his car I picture an afro american with a 70s afro hair cut wearing Elvis Presley sunglasses next to him. Kind of Pulp Fiction-ish with some Miami palm trees in the background.

From the complain department:
The shadow underneath the car looks off in the second render and the meshsmooth is missing on the front tire

I think I’m gonna buy an Octan license today, really a time safer!

Cheers
Andre

from the ""good excuses department “”
yes teh car is not subdivided at all …
and i miss some geo behind the lights …

I think I’m gonna buy an Octan license today, really a time safer!

good move !!..
curently trying to see if i could get access to arnold in maya … keeping finger crossed :arteest:

The new, hottest boys band in town!

#234

The arms of those guys have some rather odd proportions; slightly tentacle-like - very curved where one wouldn’t expect them to be, especially around the forearms…

#235

good catch,
thank you …
would have to redo teh rig around teh wrist … i think i did place it way too high

#236

back to vray with this one …
still have to redo the rig … then starting on the painting of the masks for the material

#237

another side project …
model by the amazing samuel compain …
first pass to see how my gpus are handling it
might take into vray later

#238

took it into vray …
same shader on all 4 of them … only different light situation

#239

back into octane … need to justify that dual grafic card setup somehow
