XSI 7 on IntelMac with Parallels and Bootcamp

#1

Is there anyone using XSI under both Parallels and Boothcamp at the same time?

Right now, I am running CSI 7 under Bootcamp only. In the past I can run CSI under Paralles (using same system from Bootcamp partition) and under Bootcamp since 6.5 Ess using hardware lock. The new XSI 7 does use hardware lock (and I like it). So, I think it would be locked with hardware ID like Windows or Maya.
I would like to know is it going to work or I have to ask the new license from Softimage?

I just want to do some work in Parallels and use bootcamp for full rendering.

Thanks,

I’m not a Parallels user but I find it a little clunky under VMWare 2.0 even with its DirectX 9.0c support. There also seems to be issues with OpenGL support. Interaction with the viewports were slow, but definitely usable.

However, I am new to XSI, so I’m not sure if you can change XSI’s viewport rendering mode like you can in 3DS Max. Maybe switching it to DirectX would yield better results.

My personal opinion? Stick to Boot camp.

Definitely run it native. Parallels etc is not good enough for anything other than exporting a file or something light like that.

Tried it out on Parallels Desktop 3 today and everything work fine.
The OGL real-time shadow does not works, but overall quality is acceptable, Macbook Pro 2.4.

Difinitely, running in native mode is the best, sometime I just want to do a little work in it and don’t want to reboot since XSI is not my main application.
