xGen mentalRay Colored Archive. Done!

#1

Hello everybody. after a couple of days i find the way rendering mental ray archive in xGen colored like the Arnold render tutorial but without userdata.
This is the link of the tutorial https://support.solidangle.com/display/mayatut/Assigning+Color+to+Primitive+Archives
What you gonna do is follow this tutorial without assign AiDefault but assign mental ray mia_for example.
On create custom color on xGen you assing the texture you want, click on the save icon, go to the diffuse slot of mia_material and assign a xgen_ptex_lookup on mental ray texture from textures tab.Open folder and go in to description folder(xgen) and on custom color folder you find a ptex texture, select it. Render
This is my render.

Good day ytsejam1976,

would you be so kind to explain your process in greater detail? I’m lost as to where I’d actually plug in the texture you are mentioning:

…On create custom color on xGen you assing the texture you want, click on the save icon…

How can I point xGen to the texture I’d like to use tto color my instances?

Best regards, demdike.
