X-Blades Ayumi - Anime Meets CGI

#1

This started as a challenge from some of my fanatic Anime/Manga friends that don’t like CGI. So I wanted to show them what Anime would look like in CGI by taking a known game character and adding animation and effects to it. I did not think it would come out as well as it did. But of course it will need to get updated. What do you think?

Hi!
How long did it take you to animate the whole thing?

First of all, the shot is very busy, there is always something moving and its really hard to keep track of what’s going on especially with all those camera cuts. So you might want to think about giving her a few spots where she will be still and that would create some nice contrast to your shot.

also what happens around the 3 seconds in? does she jump up into the air or does she float up???
around 15 seconds her feet seem to be sliding all over the place.
Her hair seems to have a mind of its own and just do its own thing rather than follow her head around and conform to gravity (even in made up worlds gravity applies)

How did you do the background? if its just an image that you put in post production then get rid of it as it does not really sync up properly with some of your crazy camera moves… which should also be tamed down a bit so the viewer wont get so disorientated.

hope that helps and I didn’t sound too harsh.

Only two days sort of rushed it.

I will be sure you see the second one. It is a lot slower pace. I kept it this pace intentionally to hide the flaws. lol The background was to be for HDRI lighting only, at first I was not going to do an overhead shot so the foot slide would not have been noticed. FAIL - lol. They hair is a mesh I added a cloth modifier to as an experiment. I think it will work better the next go, I have to let it bake a little longer. All in all thanks for the input. My friends did not catch half of that. LOL
