Works in Progress

I think I’ve seen some pics of the woman, but not the man, before. Simply beautiful. I think the lighting’s alright now for the simple reason as you said it’s a WIP. But I would like to see them POP out as well.

Great job.

JTalbotski: VERY cool!  Just out of curiousity, roughly how many times did A:M crash during the whole process?

isn’t there another thread for this? My goodness … can’t we just praise the guy?!

Um… It was a joke. Hence the winky face…

#265

Awesome Jim. Her expression is simply precious darling.
Are you porcelating?

#266

sorry Hookflash - didn’t see the wink. Oops.

Thank you, one and all.

Wegg, you’re right, of course, but I was trying to hide the fact that the guy wasn’t smartskinned yet.

Hookflash, I know you were joking but I did get several crashes mainly from trying to paste into a model that had porcelain applied to it already. And a few others when opening or closing a window. 10.5h seems pretty solid, as far as I ever take the program, anyway. ( I just wish the OSX version was on that level.)

Zaryin, you’re right, I did post a picture to the AMlist before when I was working on her.

pequod, why yes, I am porcelating. Isn’t it scrumptious? (translation: I like the new porcelain a lot!)

kungfudork, I will try to get a wireframe up later today.

Thanks again!
Jim

Jim, that is freaggin great!
I for one would love to see a wire frame.
Excume me while I go pick jaw off floor.

Since you are using the new porcelain, is there still a slider on it, or do you just place and hope it looks good?

Thanks for any info.

You can adjust the strength of it, yes, but I usually turn it’s strength down to zero, which get’s rid of most trouble areas without losing definition in other areas. There has been a problem with adjusting the strength of the material in the shortcut to the material, once applied to a model. The probnlem has been that it will always reset to 100% strength. So I set the strenght to zero in the material itself and don’t have that problem.

Hi guys,

Here’s the wireframe. I could only get a screen capture, I couldn’t render a shaded wireframe.

Thanks, Patrick. They’re waiting for Jeeves to bring them.

I don’t know anything about porcelain, but I am thinking of starting to use it. Is it the Normal Weights setting that you put to 0?

That is my last question on the subject :).

Thanks for the answers,

Yup, you got it.

Thanks Jim. I agree with the people on the list. If you can get a pic of their dog from somewhere you should model him too :).

#278

Jim,

Great pic. Maybe the man’s hands should be a little bigger and more masculine. It would work well with the exaggerated proportions you’re using. Maybe slightly bigger feet as well.

#279

Zaryin, I might create a pet for them, but I don’t really want them to be Nick & Nora Charles. It would be too limiting, trying to match what others would be expecting to see.

Roger, thanks! Yes, I am going to make his hands larger and more manly. I don’t know about giving him bigger feet. I want him to remain stylish and debonair and I’m afraid bigger feet will make him look goofier. I’m also trying to match the characters to each other so they look like they belong together.

wow, great modeling and great textures.

about the pet…hmmm… when i look deep in their faces, it’s gotta be something far out…
an old fat man who they use as a mobile couch for example…
:surprised just my oppinion.:surprised
