Works in Progress

Thanks David! I’ll post an image when I’ve satisfactorily textured him.

Re: fat cuckoo, I originally had him looking fairly chunky but he looked like a stuffed chicken, so I thinned him up a bit, and it seems to suit his character better.

I’ve posted a side on view of character also if people want to have a look.

I love the concept. And parts of it have been modeled well but the feet feel all wrong when I’m looking at it. I think bigger feet with thicker toes and knuckles would help a lot.

#243

Aha!!! Thats whats been bugging me. I just couldn’t put my finger on it. Chunk up the feet! Thanks for the suggestion Wegg!

Nice so far, but I would make the arms/hands more like feathers, kinda like the old classic cartoon duck characters…just my thought…They seem too human as compared the rest of the features. Pardon the messiness, but here is a quick example…

Here is what I have been working on for about a month. It is kind of my “learn everything by screwing it up a few times” project. Any criticisms, suggestions, etc. will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

#247

…and here is a close-up of his face.

#248

Looks Good.
Good proportion and anatomy. I like the idea of having wolves on his shoulders very much. Watch out though because it could be hard for him to bend his arms.

What ya mean, “I was going to do a video tutorial” Have you cooled off on that idea?
Nice model BTW.

Here’s an update of my sword, mangled by jpg;). Those are runes on the blade (they’re kinda hard to see).

#251

Thanks John. The wolves are sort of a problem. Right now they are controlled by the bicep muscle so when he lowers his arms they go into his chest some. I will probably give them their own own bones but Im not sure how best to control them. Maybe a smartskin on the bicep or some kind of constraint. Not sure yet.

As an alternative to the bug related threads that are so active, here’s what I’ve been playing with lately. Aren’t they just SO uppercrusty!

Done with A:M 10.5c-h. (Yeah, I work slowly.)

Oh man, that is freakin AWESOME!!! Wow. Once I am able to pick up my jaw off the floor I’m sure I can come up with some other comments.

#254

Ooo. . . Very nice.

Some rim lighting might help them “pop”.

You know. . . Key, Fill, Rim. . .

#255

lovely stuff Jim. What are they going to be for? You sure this is WIP? looks more like finished work to me but I’m tired now.
Keep on with the goods!
Now g’night!

#256

Crimenettly Jim…

#258

Just plain WOW!

#259

Amazing as always!
I like the extra touches like the ambience on the cigarette tips.:applause:

Right! No more moaning for me, from now on call me Mr productive. That image is PERFECT. It is sitting on my desktop right now and will stay there for even longer than your dangermouse did. I am a big fan of the semi-chariacatured style and you have done it here wonderfully. Can’t wait to see more from you. Maybe you should show this on other parts of cgTalk. I think that it would do very well.
