Hello all,
Let me start by saying that I am not a character animator, and don’t intend to become one, but I need to be good enough to not take away from the rest of the clip and prove distracting. I’m part-way through completing a quick shot to showcase the entire pipeline (modeling/texturing/rigging/animation/cloth dynamics/lighting/rendering) and want to get the animation down a little better before moving on.
Here is a link to some playblasts and a WIP render:

The first camera angle is the one that i’m most interested in (render cam). The others are provided so you can get a better view of what’s going on. Each angle has a full-speed following by a slow motion.
There’s definitely a good amount of room for improvement. I don’t expect this to be perfect enough for a senior character animator position, but i’m not really happy with it as it is. However, since i’m not an amazing animator, I’m having some trouble identifying the problem areas. I suspect that one of them is that her trailing leg takes too long to lift off the ground and move forward, making the movement of swinging the leg forward too fast and rushed?
crits/comments very welcome.
Thank you everyone.
disclaimer character concept is based on Princess Mononoke, a character in a Hiyao Miyazaki film – i am not trying to claim that I came up with the concept
