Hello, everyone.I’m happy to be a part of this challenge.The plate provided is very difficult to work with because of such skewed perspective and fast converging vanishing point.I think this is a great way to push yourself to become better and a great opportunity to learn and receive feedback from other contestants and honorable judges

This is my inital black and white sketch.My idea is a some sort of view from the bottom of the canyon where the city was gradually built over the decades, maybe even centuries and when there was no more space people started expanding the city on top of the canyon which wind and river gradually shaped in some sort of plateous.

My short term goal is to try and work the plate perspective as best as I can into this concept.This will probably include some heavy editing but I’ll try to retain as much information as possible.I’m really looking for some constructive feedback.

I’m working at 4K film resolution just so I have some more space to work with if I need to extend or push in the painting plus I can really go in there and paint some fine details.

That is a nice value sketch
The perspective will get a lot harder if you cut the plate apart and open up the canyon
Maybe try out a narrower composition closer to the original plate?
