Hi Everyone,

Great entries to all, Amazing opportunity for me to develop my matte painting skills as i only made 2 matte paintings before and not professionally.

So here is a sketch and i ll be posting another one later today, i still haven’t worked on the steam punk feel but its good to know if i m on the right track, thanks everyone

Hio Amira,

Welcome to the challenge! Of all three thumbs, I like the most recent one you have the most, some clear values, and interesting structures throughout the painting. Though all three have trouble of perspective due to the original plate being shot close to the camera. That causes a very pronounced wide angle perspective and then recedes back into the distance quickly as buildings get smaller. Putting the original plate further in the midground like this won’t work due to that technicality. It’s a good idea though. You’ll have to try to bring it closer to the FG again, or work more creatively to get the perspective to be not so strong in the original plate (cutting up the layers and then repositioning them/scaling them to fit better) but that might be too far a path from the original plate we would like.
