WIP: aircraft flyover

#1

Hi everyone,
On my current shot I’m comping a P-51 into a BG plate of a grassy hill. Here’s how I am so far:

It doesn’t look very integrated to me, does anyone have any tips/C&C?

Thanks, JamesNZ

consider adding some depth of field, right now all the attention is on the grass in the foreground, if you want the attention to be on the plane, then the grass should out of focus with a shallow DOF.

#3

Excellent idea! I’ll try that out. Anyone have any more?

Thanks, JamesNZ

The lighting on the aeroplane don’t seem to match the lighting of the plate.

#5

In what way? Like, do you think the shadows/highlights don’t match or something?

This the current state of it:

I’ve added some vector blur, though it’s not very evident in this frame. Also slightly blurred the BG.
C&C would be really helpful, I’m aiming to finish it tomorrow :).

Thanks, JamesNZ

If the sky was a bit darker it might help focus the viewer’s attention more on the plane. You could achieve this by applying a gradient to the sky.

A fast moving aircraft like the P-51 would probably seem more realistic if the propeller was completely obscured by radial motion blur.

The aeroplane looks a little bit blown out/overexposed compared to the ground, or it could be the overall scene brightness is the problem.

dof will fix this as solomon said.

motion blur on the propellor and a tiny bit on the plane.

first image the plane seems to have a black fringe around it. That isn’t helping. What composite software are you using or is it literally a full frame rendered in software?

what comp software you using
what 3d package?
