Windows Vista questions

Any reasoning behind mudbox stating that you need to have the “business” version of vista? Would the version just below that work fine or what? Same question for xp pro… I was just trying to be as cheap as I can be since I would only be purchasing windows for mudbox alone and I’d like to use my cheapest option.

I’ve got the newest macbook pro if that means anything… I believe its qualified ok on mudbox’s site.

i have Vista 64bit Home Premium. It runs ok with it.

works on xp64 if you want to be deprived of the vista bloat:)

I’m on Ultimate 32… which works fine… but when trying the Trial I ran into problems with messages saying “you must have administrator privileges to run Mudbox2009”

I was an administrator however? but right clicking the Icon and running as administrator worked in the end.

Now I have purchased the full version it runs perfectly when launched.

Does the Sys Req say you need a particular Vista Version? with Maya it says Business although I’m on Ultimate… and works fine.

Ditto for me…not a single problem.

i think the qualification process is just to stop the support teams being in inundated with request for help from people with every variant of o.s.

Thanks… Unfortunately I think this is the main reason I have decided to go with ZBrush. No Mac version and too uptight on their supported systems… Seems like they are looking for a reason to hang up on you on the support line.

I had a weak moment and was willing to install Vista (which I already abandoned once) but finally I just couldn’t do it. Not for this “one” program that has a competitor that is on par with it and has a mac version. Plus its cheaper…
