I am finally posting some wips, since I got hold of a scanner (didn’t want to submit bad digital photos).

The next two images were a part of looking for ideas and sketching whatever came to my head.

On this page I felt like I was onto something with the character on the right. I initially was thinking about a holy/light clericon character, but I switched to an Invoker with summoning powers, which were channeled through a gauntlet-like artifact.

I’ve been doing some action poses to help me figure out the character’s personality and movement a bit more.

Frontal view sketch. Still trying to figure out various aspects of the design.

In this image I went further with understanding the shapes and specific traits of this guy by fleshing him out a bit more.

Crits and comments obviously welcome. I will keep on updating the thread as I have more stuff I can put up.

Hellö!
Very nice stuff… I think i like the one with spikes only down his neck rather than the ones where he’s got horns/spikes on the sides of the head too. About the last one you did, his body shape looks like it belongs to a warlord at first glance, again i like the first one you did more(the one with spikes only down his neck). It would be seet also if you’d show maybe his shin or just a tip of whatever hes got under there, to kickstart the imagination about what his face looks like. Again, really cool drawings! Keep it up…

Good luck!

cool concepts your style Rocks!!

Thanks for the input, everybody.
FrozZT, I am actually thinking about him not having a face, just a weird incandescent, rock-like glowing thing when he summons his magic, and which otherwise would stay dark.

#9

very nice pencil sketckes!

Here I show how I want the upper part of the body to look like. He has no face; instead he has a strange biological material that reacts to emotional stimuli from the summoning. As the power engulfs him, his unusual head is lifted further away from his body, stretching and glowing from inside as it the invoking takes place.

Some action sketches

Wow, nice Piero! I love the fungoid head.

The anatomy is pretty flawless, and I love all the little spikes and scales.

I would love to see him have more fetishes or magical knick-knacks. I also think this guy would have a familiar, like a featherless crow or a skeletal dog, or a land crab… I dunno… I’m just makin shit up because I don’t have much constructive stuff to say, it’s just awesome.

Keep it up! Let’s make Baltimore the new beating heart of concept art! RAAAHHH!
