why clusters only work with EP curves and not CV curves

#1

Hi,
this is driving me crazy. I create a EP curve and a CV curve.
If I go to component mode, and select the vertexes to assign them a cluster, the vertex will only follow if it is a EP curve.
Can any one try to create a CV curve and assign to the vertexes a cluster? Does the vertex move with the cluster?

Thanks

it works fine on the maya I use

you sure you used a CV curve and not EP curve?
In that case I am going to a gun store and blow off my head, because it doesn´t make any sense. Possible maya 2012 bug??

okey, I ave discovered something.
If the CV curve has just 2 points, crating clusters to each point doesn´work.
It the CV curve has more than 2 points, then clusters work.
Anyone can confirm that please? If so, why does that happen?

A CV curve needs at least 4 CVs to become an actual curve. That’s how they work. There’s no such thing as a 2 CV curve - although Maya will let you create “something” with two CVs, it isn’t a curve you can cluster.

ok, thanks.
(you meant 3 cvs, not 4 right? because with 3 cvs you can cluster)

As I said, a CV curve needs at least 4 CVs to become an actual curve. You may be able to add clusters to your “3 CV thing”, but it isn’t a curve, and moving the clusters won’t get you anywhere.
