I like Luis Royo’s style (www.luisroyo.com/). I actually own most of his books.
Who is your favorite artist?
I like Ver Meer and Dali too. A long time my favorite artist was H. R. Giger. I like his dark visions.
Classical: Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Reuben
19th century: Gerom, Ilya Repin
Sculptor:Rodin, Bernini, Michelangelo
20th century: Lucian Freud, some early Picasso, Mucha
Illustrators/designers: Moebius, Syd Mead, Beksinski, Virgil Finlay, Joseph Clement Coll, N.C. Wyeth, Leyendecker
Off the top of my head…I am sure there are others.
I’m with MadCat on this one… Luis Royo rocks hard! His style is distinct. I really like his post apocalyptical settings as well as his Beauty and the Beast themes… (not the Disney version either… we are talking beautiful vixens and barbaric creatures)
Cheers,
NRG
Albrecht Durer
Leonardo Da vinci
Gianlorenzo Bernini
M.C.Escher
Yoshitaka Amano
Akira Toriyama
Samwise Didier(blizzard)
Satoshi Urushihara(langrisser and other)
theres my list
Escher has been a long time favorite…
And once I got into CG art/animation, I discovered Neil Blevins who would also be one of my favorites.
well everyone has a favourite artist, and in my case theyre also my heroes. i look up to them, especially the ones who are probably like the majority of us - struggling to make it big and get into the art industry.
my fave artists include John John Jesse, [google him] he’s amazing, his works are based on sex, drugs and rock n’ roll. his works are quite graphic, and alot of people dont aprrove, claiming its a bit pornographic, but on a deeper level you can see the satirical message he’s making, he’s a genius.
how can you not love Ashley Wood, awesome comic work, excellent style
H R Giger, his creations [Aliens the movie] are so fantastic, they go beyond sublime, theyre just so enticing and simply kickass!
My personal all time favorite artist is Alex Grey. ( http://www.alexgrey.com )
I absolutely love the extremely vibrant colors that Alex Grey uses in his paintings. I love how he portrays energy throughout the colors in his paintings. Whether it be physical, emotional, mental, spiritual or sexual energy, Alex Grey shows that energy in his painting and I love it.
Other than Alex Grey, I would have to say I also love Dali, of course, HR Giger, and MC Escher.
I’ve attached a few of my favorites of Alex Grey. Lightweaver, Kissing, and Artist’s Hand… Check 'em out!

My comments HERE.
If you hadn’t guessed by my earlier posts, J.W.Waterhouse is my favourite, closely followed by Sargent.
I dig the way that Waterhouse has all the technical skills of a classically trained painter but he slaps paint on with a looser, more painterly feel- it’s still very much classical representational painting but it’s a bit more alive.
Sargent, well he just rocks.
