Which software do u offer & why?

Hi guys;

I work 3ds Max professionally and beside it I wanna begin learning and working with a composite software.
I have worked Autodesk Composite 2011 a little but I’m not sure that it’s a good one. I have some Fusion tutorials, too.
Which software do you advise and why?

Previously thanx

Your best bet is to download the trial versions where available and see which one works best for you. I’ve used After Effects CS4 as well as Fusion6 - some things I find extremely easy to do in AE, but other things in Fusion. Of course I’m just a beginner in compositing, and of course it’s best to try out only what you can afford. The CS4 suite is very inexpensive when compared with the full version of Fusion or Nuke - and you get quite a bit of software that you can use along with AE. Bottom line, try them all. Good Luck!

It depends on your resolution towards future I reckon, AE is an essential tools for visual effects, ready to use. But, if you want to step in vfx world I highly recommend you to get familiar with Nuke. It works perfect and nowadays every post production house has this software. Even you can import your object into it and start relighting and this feature is amazing.

Thank you both.

So, I should try Nuke.

If you have Composite, why not using it ? It is definitely a good product, and being node based like nuke and fusion, once you know one you can easily switch to the other two. Like Nuke, Composite is more towards high end film compositing, and not towards mograph. For pure mograph, afterfx is really better, but being layer based, it’s a nightmare to use for real compositing.
Also if you work professionnally like you say, you have composite licence with max. Nuke is another max/composite seat price, nukex around two of them. So, although you are sure to have the budget, I wouldn’t learn a software that I won’t buy anyway. Of course, once you know Nuke, you pretty know Composite too and vice versa. In a week or two, the other will be familiar.

As I said I tested Composite 2011 64bit, but it was not very good.

My 3ds Max has not any main problem but the composite which was with that…
Crashes alot during my works and it makes me crazy (Thanx god it has a good thing in the name of RECOVER!).
I can not have TGA for output, indeed It renders them but they do not open!
Its JPG outputs have terrible quality.
When I wanna open a project or an image It does not show me some of my folders, so I have to copy them in my desktop, and after finishing move them back to their places!
etc.
It seems that it has some seriours problems (maybe the version that I have)!

The price of them is not important for me, because I can work with all of them in our studio free .
I just wanna know which one is the best in “performance”.

Thanx for your advices.
