What's up with Polypaint?

#1

I have an issue:

I created a model in maya and UV mapped it. Once finished i exported to zbrush for sculpting.

Once i finished sculpting i painted a texture using polypaint.

For some reason “new from Polypaint” is greyed out in the texture menu, WTF!?!? i have UVs on the model!!!

I seriously DO NOT want to go back and sculpt and paint this thing again.

Someone please stop me from puting my head through my computer screen.

Ugh…never mind, something unfortunate must have happened along the way. I ALWAYS UV map in Maya before going into zbrush and never go back to maya unless everything i set out to do in zbrush is DONE. This has never happened before.

Went back to my original maya file to double check and my model IS UV mapped.

When i tryed to export from zbrush it says my model has no UVs? Just weird.

I’m scrapping the model, lost way too much time already.

 did you mean import?

if you meant export did you export as level 1

what i read was to go to subdivision level 1 and import the version of the base mesh that has the UV's

you may need to store morph target first on level 1

 OR
Better yet use the GoZ plugin

Informer,

Gratitude, you are a time saver. I never knew about that. It’s like freakin’ magic!

I opened up my ztool and imported the OBJ from maya once again and my UVs are back where they were supposed to be and the maps line up perfectly.

I use GoZ but never had this issue before, and i didn’t know one could just update UVs on a current ztool by simply reimporting the OBJ, hahahaha…wonderful!
