whats the best books on Painter 11?
I just received my copy of “Painting For Photographers” by Karen Sperling and it is a wonderful resource.
it does look good, but not sure if its what I want, is it cloning pictures or hopfully help you paint photos from scratch without cloning?
Clara
Which one are you looking for?
If you want to paint from scratch then any books on traditional drawing and painting should get you started.
It’s about touching up photographs…It’s more aimed at the photographer…
Digital Artist Magazine formerly Corel Painter Magazine)
http://www.digitalartistdaily.com/
http://www.paintermagazine.co.uk/
And ImagineFX Magazine
http://www.imaginefx.com/
Are two monthly mags I would recommend
I have the Advanced Painter book by Don Seegmiller is the one I have and would strongly recommend…
I am looking for something not really concentrating on photographers either. Just being able to create concepts to a finished painting.
I have no idea how and when to use layers, workflow, etc.The basics for building a good foundation and letting the art flow freely along the way. I get so bogged down by just not knowing the how to use the options and seeing it used for photography adds confusion for me because that isn’t what I want to use it for.
Then I recommend getting Don Seegmillars first book Digital Character Design and Painting. This will teach you the basics of Painter in a painting tutorial form. It doesn’t mention the program Painter in the title but it is all about using Painter (not Photoshop, he has another book which does that). This one is now out of print but you can usually pick up a used copy.
