What mistake did I make?

#1

I have been working with a terrain file for some time and texture painting it. Somewhere along the line I must have hit the wrong switch because now all I get in the view window is a pink terrain.

A render looks like this attachment. Can anybody tell me how to get back to normal?

could we have a screenshot of your view window with visible buttons please

Sorry it took so long; have been away unexpectedly. But back now. So here is the screen I have.

TBH i’m not to sure why. Have you tryed looking through the material/texture setting

I’m only familiar with 2.5x, so I’m not sure where this would be in 2.49, but something similar happened to me a few times when adding texture to models, so hopefully it will help you. In your Texture settings, check in Influence the section, there is an option for RGB to Intensity, and the default color is that bright pink color. If I remember correctly (it’s been a while since I ran into this), this happens when you use one of the texture options (clouds, magic, noise, etc.) and do not assign it a ramp in the Color section. Try assigning a ramp to the model and see what happens. Hope that helps.

Yeah like the above post said. That looks like you have your normal map or displace map set to affect color which is in those texture menu’s.
