geforce Go 7600 here.
My laptop is very sloppy when my mesh get over 100k : /
what kind of videoo card are u using ?
My card a nvidia g-force 6800 go 256mb
subdiv a cube to div 8 = 1,6 milj is my max to work in.
hope a newer version of mudbox will make 2milj possible for me without a problem,
Could maybe be done by hiding the polys not in view automaticly, so it wont be noticeble for the user, but will give 2x more polys possible, putting some game engine tricks in there maybe.
I’ve got Geforce 6200 LE, 256 MB. Around 500K polys (level 4) I notice considerable sluggishness.
I am trying Mudbox and ZB3 at the moment, and i’m using 6800GS 256Mb, i’m thinking of a new 8800GT? 640Mb to see if it helps Mudbox, as anything above 1.5million is not as resonsive as i’d like.
However ZB3 is quite capable at 5Million polys, it doesn’t even sweat…
Even 7Million plus is possible in ZB3. It’s a shame i like both programs, but MB2 needs to really improve in this area.
Quote from the Mudbox website:
"Innovative streaming technology works around the limitations of your hardware, helping you build and manage scenes of over 100 million polygons on regular workstations! Great for assets with many components, such as soldiers with gear, robots, or city environments, etc."
I’m sorry 100million polygons?
Yeah, they shouldn’t say it can reach 100mil polygons on a regular workstation. Sure, the technology can hit 100mil no doubt but that’s with a super duper high end workstation.
I’m currently using mudbox with my ati radeon 9600pro (128mb) and I can work up to about 1 mil with a bit of slow down but nothing horrible. If I hide mesh and stream to hd I can get to 2, it’ sluggish but usable.
