What rigging scripts or plugins, free or commercial, packages are out there for Maya users? Which one has all the more advanced features like stretching, pivot offsets, lock down of individual joints, elasticity controls etc

Well its amazing well written and understandable from the stuff I’ve read - it’s all pretty painless to convert to max. The toughest thing is probably the keyable pivots etc - i’d built my method in isolation and was pleasantly surprised to find we both came up with the same solution basically. Really its teaching you a paradigm to get in the head of an animator - process is secondary.
As for auto-riggers for max, i’d personally do a search. The best pipelines/rigs I’ve seen tend to be built for production and are only for show. Some excellent ones do show up though from time to time - id check 11 second club, animation forums, creative crash etc.
