what is the difference between flash 5 and MX

#1

the reason that i ask is that, being a student, i have access to a fairly large online library to which has some books on Flash % but do not yet have the updated one on MX. So I want to know if I am wasting my time reading the Flash 5 book, since i heard there were some big changes.

thanks for the advice

I can’t be very specific but I do know that much of the scripting in MX has changed dramatically from Flash 5. There are some good books for MX… I think Colin Mook has a very good book on MX.

I have flash MX and it really is a lot better than the Flash 5, because all of the scripts are updated and it is some what easier to use.

here are some really good flash sites to goto to find tutorials and help.

the biggest improvements to MX are the ActionScripting, and video support. if you are learning Flash 5, it’s not a complete waste of time, it just means when you move up to MX, you’ll have some more stuff to learn about the proggy. If you can afford it, i suggest getting some MX books. Someone mentioned Colin Moock’s book… it’s very good, if you intend to learn about ActionScripting… but there are so many good books out there about flash animation, if that’s more your bag-o-chips. As far as animation purposes, there’s not really much difference between Flash 5 and MX… however some annoying bugs were fixed in MX =)

thanks for the input. It is actually the action scripting that i am most curious about so I ordered the flash MX bible, i am looking forward to reading it.
