I am thinking about getting Modo as a secondary modeler. How does Modo compare to other 3d modelers? So far my favorites are lightwave and zbrush (freaking awesome). Is it simular in ways with Zbrush inwhich you can paint geometry?
What is modo?
why you don’t test it on your own… maybe thats the best way to find out, whether it suits into your workflow
If you like LightWave and Zbrush you will like Modo. Modo developers came straight from LightWave a few years ago and you can tell once you start to look through the Modo interface. But, where LW starts to fragment and get messy and confusing( interface and buried menues and such, trying to re-code themselves out of corners) Modo just seems to stay focused and logical. And If you really start to get comfortable with Modo you can begin to customize to your hearts content, its real nice. Remember, like All apps, Modo is a work in progress. Download the demo, hit the forums and test it yourself. I did and I bought it.

Are there any other modelers that are simular to zbrush inwhich you paint geometry? Zbrush just blow me away with its unique way of sculpting. I was hoping that there maybe other modelers/paint programs that work the same way.
What about cinema4d?
Keep in mind that I have already tried mudbox and blender and they both suck. I still use 3d Studio and Lightwave as my main modelers but I feel that they are getting old. Time for a change.
Heres a link to where Modo is heading,

Modo can paint geo now, just not quite like this video shows(can hardly wait).

Well if you are LW user you will definitely love Modo. I do find your comments about MudBox and Blender odd from a couple of points of view. First you say you love ZBrush (as many do) but I bet the interface was alittle tough to get through at first. Well the same is true of Blender, but it is a very good app to say the least. I own LW, C4D, XSI, and just recently decided to give Blender a “real” try after all the fuss I heard about it. It is very powerful and very well thought out actually once you understand it. Some features of the interface are actually brilliant. As for MudBox “sucking”…well this is harsh and not true. It does not have all the features of ZBrush, but that was not the softwares intent. What it does, it does very well, and much easier than ZBrush (IMO).I always said software is like underwear…some prefer briefs, some boxers, and some prefer to go commando. In the end it is whatever “fits” you best!
