What is a good Roto/Paint Demo for entry level?

#1

Hi guys,

I am a video editor, graduated in an Animation Art program, recently I want to switch my career and try to become a compositor.

My friend told me to first apply for Roto/Paint artist then work my way up to become a compositor, however, I am struggling with building my demo reel, coz I don’t have much oiriginal green screen footage, or footage for wire removal and stuff.

May I have some advice on how to start?

Thank you

Go shoot some stuff yourself, with your phone or borrow a DSLR, look around for unpaid/low paid work on indy or student films, apply for internships.

The Foundry has footage for their Nuke tutorials on their website, so do a lot of compositing and motion graphic sites like videocopilot.net

And try google, vimeo or youtube for free greenscreen footage, there’s plenty of those

I have began to watch all the nuke tutorial on their website too, but sometimes I have trouble understanding how some node network are being construction.
