Hey guys, I’m new here as you probably guesses and just wanted to get some opinions on my first real lighting test in 3D Studio Max 2011.

Looks a bit overexposed. What is your reference for this? I’d recommend getting a simple cube or a ball, putting it on a piece of paper and using a desk lamp to light it. Then use what you see on your desk as a reference and try to recreate that on your computer.
