Welcome! What are some of the challenges you have with environment

#81

I absolutely love science fiction and am working on a sci fi graphic novel that I hope to sell when finished! This is a picture of the main city in my story. I use Photoshop and traditional drawing and painting. I’ve been an airbrush artist for nearly 30 years but have been switching to digital over the last few years. I’m hoping that this course will help me learn more about creating environments and worlds etc…

Hi Lovely People,

I know I’m here at least a week late, but I’ve had a lot of fun reading through everyone’s responses. Figured that I could at least share a bit, too.

I’m Bre, and I’ve been painting for at least 8 years now. …but I’m just barely moving to digital. I’ve worked a lot with Watercolors, Oils, Acrylics, Clay, and have always done things in pencil, charcoal, and ink.

A few of the biggest challenges I have are large-scale perspectives and enviroments, but somehow architecture still makes sense. I just struggle with the idea of ‘more’ in a painting, I suppose. I’m hoping to work on that more with this project.
But I’ve always felt super comfortable with color and form, and that’s probably why I’ve stuck with physical painting vs. digital for so long. Form is easy on paper, but feels impossible digitally. …and I could never give up the way pushing and pulling color while painting feels (for lack of a better word).

I don’t have any illustrations or digital works (…yet), but I can post some of my physical paintings, if that’s not cheating somehow

I haven’t given myself the opportunity to make the switch to digital, but after the first week of pushing myself with this project, I think I’m actually enjoying it

I’m gonna get Grim Legends 3, I swear, as soon as they put it on sale. I’m your fan now! :grinning:

Well, it’s all a bit late at this point but I’m sorry I just now figured out these extra threads where here. I guess I’m fortunate I was able to keep up with the class at all.

Anyway, I enjoy RPG stories and making maps. I also do traditional fine art media using watercolor and pencil. I’d like to round out all of this into being able to tell the complete story so this seems like a good start. I struggle with carving out time to make art just because my job pays better than my art. Still, I want to make more art and one day would like to just be able to paint. So, this seems like a step in the right direction.
