Weird Object Display

#1

Hi all am Nii…I am really grateful to be part of this great community. To go straight to the point.I jus got into xsi and i must say i love it.But for some weird reason the geometry in the viewport acts funny.Example is i create a cube in wireframe mode.Everything seem fine but after i touch the uv controls, everything seems crooked and jagged.I change to the shaded displays a very weird object which looks likes it’s been chopped. But then a render preview seems fine.I am just confused so i thought i shd speak to the big heads here and I hope to hear something positive. Is there any configuration to check tht?or probably some settings…

Thx in advance…

Best Regards

do you have a screenshot of this behaviour?
Maybe update your video drivers?
What kind of video card do you have?
What version of XSI do you use?

By the way, are you THE Emmanuel Tetteh, the footy from Ghana?

It does sound like a videocard issue.
A picture of what the artifacts look like would probably help.
But yeah, videocard, drivers or both would be my first guess too.

thx a lot for the replies…

@sarford…lol…this is a different Emmauel Tetteh…an upcoming and coming cg artist…I was into music production before.but found my new love,cg graphics and i really love it…

Well back to the issue,I kept playing with it and the thing is, it never happens when i create two cubes and slide the uv controls. It only seems to happen on a single cube.I am using Xsi version 7 on a Tosiba Satellite Laptop running on windows vista 32 bit.I installed a demo version of 2010 and the same thing happened.Anyway am running it on the Intel Mobile Graphic Card Series…How do i take a screen shot of it?

Thx again…

Here’s a sreenshot.Hope it helps

Are you using 2010 ? I’ve been getting that too since I updated, exploding or weird scrambled geometry. But so far it’s been temporary glitches that disappear when I toggle SubD’s or maximize the viewport.
I’ve seen this on my laptop and my workstation, both with the latest drivers.

^^ hi toona cld u pls tell me how u got around it…am trying to update my gx card…am using xsi v7 at the moment.I installed a demo of 2010 and had the same problem…

#8

this is wht am talking abt…

Seems like a graphics card or driver problem to me. It definitly isn’t a ‘feature’ or setting in XSI

Look at this thread, seems like the same problem. If you have an ATI card then that could be the problem, XSI is known for not liking those cards.

am running on an intel graphics card…how abt tht?

#11

Graphic card or graphic chipset?

Try setting XSI_EMULATE_OPENGLin your setenv.bat, as suggested in that linked threadabove.
