Weird mesh errors when using retopology operations


Hey when I retopologise my model in mudbox in order to make future modelling easier it does this and im just wondering why this is happening and how to remedy it.



this could be everthing from bad base geo to bad uvs…
mudbox is very picky about the base mesh…


to me that looks like a bump map. did you retopologize this geometry after you painted a bump channel.

when you retopo it will create an all new geometry (that needs a new UV unwrapping)

if it’s not a bump map then your model is unbelievably dense…like millions of polys, beyond overkill.

either way a smooth brush i suppose could smooth that out.
