Weird Joint Orientation in Maya

#1

Hello Guys and Gals

It would really be great if you could help me out with a little problem that I have stumbled upon while working on my re-targeting tool for Maya 2012 .

Every time I apply new transform matrices to my joints Maya decides to reset my joint orientation to world coordinates and adds those values to my joint rotation instead !!

Then I guess one wise T.A would think that after applying new transforms I could subtract that orientation value from my joint rotation and add it to my joint orientation no ??

Well not really  as then my joint lands in a different place as if he had a mind of his own

So I wonder is there a way to keep those attributes locked down when I apply transforms to my joints ??

Or perhaps have I lost my mind and don’t make any sense at all ??

Thanks for taking time to ready all this and helping me out

Dan
