Walking through a liquid wall effect

I am currently trying to create a guy walking through a wall like a liquid object with greenscreen. (Sort of like the Stargate effect) I want wondering if this is something can be done solely on afterEffect?

But I am not too sure how to do so, I have been doing some research with keywords like mirror warping, but I haven’t been able find any decent result.

Can anyone help?

Yes it can. With simple displacement maps and any effect that renders bump maps or displacements (Freeform).
