hello, i just got a wacom intuos 6x8 yesterday, and i was wondering, is there a way to set it up so you can use something like the touch strip to change brush size without having to go into the menu every time? thanks

Congrats on the new tablet! Be patient and have fun with it.
Configuring the tablet to fit my workstyle is always a work in progress with me, but setting the TouchStrip to control brush size is a very, very good idea that I’ve never regretted doing. Go to the Control Panel, then Wacom Tablet Properties. Click the Functions button. If Photoshop doesn’t appear on the Application bar, hit the + button and add Photoshop to the list. Click the Photoshop button now and then hit the “Touch Strip” tab. Set Function to “Keystrokes” and choose ] and [ as the upper and lower functions, respectively. Now, sliding your finger along the strip should continuously increase or decrease brush size in Photoshop. Very useful.
Check out this article I wrote for some other tips on setting up your tablet. Since you have a 6x8 and thus another set of ExpressKeys, you have a lot less to worry about than I do. But you still may find the article helpful, particularly the stuff about using AutoHotkey to open the color picker. (Thanks, rogfa!)
