I’m looking into buying an Intuos 3 Tablet from ebay, without a Pen or Mouse.
Could I just buy a Graphire pen and Graphire mouse online? Would they work?
Intuos pens and mice are uber-expensive.

No it won’t work. you’re best off trying to buy an Intuos 3 pen on Ebay. You don’t need the mouse, few people use it.
Ok, thanks (uh-oh… no pens for sale at the moment).
1: By the way, is it substantial to just install the drivers from the website? Would I need an actual Wacom Installer CD to use the tablet properly?
I dont want to have to buy-and-return a tablet from the store, just to use the driver CD.
2: Will an Intuos 2 or Intuos 1 pen work with an Intuos 3 pad?
no those pens wont work … honestly i wouldnt buy a tablet with out the pen… why doesnt it have a pen is a good question no way to prove it works
Well, for $36 (winning bid) on Ebay, it’s worth a shot. If it doesn’t work, the shop-keeper’s in trouble (who has a 99% user satisfactory rating BTW)
I can’t understand why you guys don’t like the intuos mouse?
I’ve been using an intuos 12X12 for years now, and frankly I much prefer the intuos 5 button mouse feeling than any other optical or other mouse I’ve used.
I have a question… Does the Graphire 3 need batteries at all?
And also, what’s the difference between graphire 3, graphire 4, and any intuos?
Im looking into getting one of these,… beginning with cheapest.
I can’t stand my Intuos 2 mouse. By far the best mouse I’ve ever used is the Logitech MX 1000 Laser, it’s the perfect size and weight for my hand and I don’t get nearly the cramps from it I do with any other mice. I actually bring it to school and work with me because I can’t stand the cheepo Apple and HP mice.
Only the Graphire Bluetooth model uses a battery, and it’s in the tablet, not the pen. No other Wacom pens or tablets require batteries as far as I know.
Oh, okay, thanks.
And does anyone know the difference between graphire 3, graphire 4, and the intuos models?
Graphire 3 and 4, no real difference. Just model series.
Intuous, on the other hand, features about half as many levels of pressure sensitivity, but has tilt sensitivity, so you can angle a brush to thicken the stroke, etc.
Oh, I see. What would be the difference between Intuos 1, 2, and 3 then? (other than 3 having buttons)
levels of pressure sensitivity and resolution of pen tracking
intous 1 &2 are pretty much exactly the same … 512 levels of pressure sensitivity
except intuos 2 has an over sampling processor to the Intuos 2. Similar to a CD player, it reads information from the tablet pen communication twice prior to sending the information to the computer. Any differences in the readings get compensated for. So if the pen “skips” for lack of a better term, you will not see it on the Intuos 2 whereas on the Intuos one you may notice a jump…I’ve used both and could never tell the difference…I likedthhe styus on the Inuos1 better cause the rubber grip bugs me
intuos3 specs are tracking res and pressure are far greater (1024 pressure) etc… but you can look at wacoms site for that
I don’t think any ofthe stylus have ever been cross compatible…
Yeah! I had mx700 and now mx1000 laser , damn It’s sooooo nice.
One advice about mx1000. Keep away from any bluetooth logitech mouse. I lags!. Stay witn normal radio. Mx 3100 keybaord + mx1000 mouse ![]()
