Wacom Multi-touch for navigation in zbrush

#1

So, I’m a mouse click away from buying an intuos 5 multi touch and I’m just wondering how multi touch functions within the zbrush navigation.

From what I can make out so far, pinch to zoom and suchlike isn’t supported directly by zbrush. But is there a way of setting up the gestures so that they activate keyboard macros or something so that, for example, when you “pinch in”, it activates the + key.

I think (again from what I can make out) you can do something like this using the touch ring so it occurs to me that this might be a possibility. Does it work that way?

Thanks in advance.

I’ve got a Cintiq 22HD Touch and, if I’m honest, the lack of support makes touch pretty much useless. You can rotate awkwardly round the model but there’s no support for basic zooming or panning with gestures.

The options Wacom give you when setting up the gestures are really restrictive. No options to even set up the pinch as keystroke that would in turn allow you to zoom. I think gesture wise the only things you can do are minor tweaks to the 3,4 and 5 finger gestures. It’s nice for jumping round Windows 8 but no use for zBrush (or Modo, 3DCoat, PS etc).

I guess if you’re playing the long game then investing in touch might be a good idea but the way things are at the moment it’s good for Windows 8 and not much more.

I’d love to be wrong and if anyone reads this and wants to rant about how wrong I am then please do…and give me links
