Vue Infinite: Animated Short, Scenario Creation DVD - Video Tutorials

#1

Hi Guys

my Vue Infinite: Animated Scenario creation, Animated Short Creation DVD will be coming your way - I am partnering with aXYZ design to provide free models that you can use in your project so you can work along as you follow the tutorial. You can check out their online library - FBX rigged Characters

Here are some sample tutorials showing how you will be bringing your characters - which in this case study, are FBX models pre-rigged for instant animation in Autodesk Motionbuilder

Sample Tutorials

Video Tutorial Link 1: Introduction - From Motionbuilder to Vue Infinite

Video Tutorial Link 2: From Motionbuilder to 3DS Max

I am focussing on using Vue Infinite as the final program for putting together the animation and rendering - mainly because the xStream version still has a lot of bugs and in my opinion is still not production ready. Hopefully that changes with Vue 7 whenever it does come out.

Solomon,

Very impresive. But I must ask, did you try creating the animation in VUE6 Infinite? I noticed that in the demo you used VUE6 xSteam, and I believe xStream has a different code base from that of Infinite. I don’t know whether your demo would work in Infinite.

Thanks for the demo.

Hi JoeK,

thanks.

There really isn’t much difference between the 2 - except when you are installing - Vue 6 xStream is Vue 6 Infinite packaged with the xstream plugins for Maya, Max, Cinema4d, Lightwave.

If you look at these 2 pages - the features are pretty much the same.

Vue 6 Infinite - http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/vue/vue_6_infinite/
Vue 6 xStream - http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/vue/vue_6_xstream/

So yes, the approach will work for both.

Salomon,

I’m definitively interested in your tutorials. I don’t have MotionBuilder. Will I need MotionBuilder to create the animated characters or (as you said) will they be supplied so all I will need is VUE? I take it that MotionBuilder PLE will not allow FBX export.

This may be a dumb question/comment, but I didn’t know that VUE allowed FBX import - I don’t remember seeing it noted in the documentation anywhere.

Please keep us/me posted as to the availability of your tuts.

Hi Joe,

yes the characters will be provided as FBX files so you can learn the process of importing into Max and out of Max as VOB - but having motionbuilder will give you the added advantage of customizing your animation and adding more motion options to it.

The characters that will be provided, since not everyone has motionbuilder, will be pre-animated sequences that you can then write a story around and put together as a short in Vue 6 Infinite/xStream

No, vue does not import FBX files - what you will be doing is learning the process of bringing a preanimated character from any program as FBX, importing into Max, since only Max has the ability to export as VOB, exporting out of Max as VOB and then importing that VOB into Vue.

hi Guys,

here is a set of 4 tutorials showing my workflow of taking an FBX character into Vue Infinite.
The tutorials are hosted by aXYZ Design - they provide free samples of mocap and characters to use if you want to test out the work flow.
