Vue6 was realeased almost a year ago. Versions from Easel up to Infinite are now virtually bug free, though not xStream, apparently. I think they have a lot more time now to work on Vue7. But I’m only guessing.

Actually I was on the phone to them today and I happened to ask about Vue 7.
The person on the phone told me that would be for next year (2008).

I hope the upgrade isnt too much again, Ive just forked out for Vue6.5 xStream upgrade.

an educated guess would be fall 2008, although that´s still nothing more then a guess  could be 2009 aswell.

‘Versions from Easel up to Infinite are now virtually bug free’
Very funny! Vue is far from bug free!
I doubt that version 6 will ever be bug free. It will be the same as with version 5.
E-On will stop updating and release version 7.
It’s how to sell more software.

#6

Well whatever, it is going to take a heck of a lot to get me to fork out more money for their buggy software.

#7

I with this were true! It has got better, but I still have regular crashes and encounter buggy behaviour with Infinite esp with complex scenes. It might just be my setup, but from software engineering experience I think it’s memory allocation issues in the software that causes a lot of the problems - just a gut feeling.

It is a great and unique package, but it is not bug free by any means! But then i tend to push software to its limits, which is often when bug and crashes happen.

could u plz tell frim where i can download vue 6.5 upgrade. im using vue 6xtream

#9

From the software update page at e-on’s.

You have to actually buy the software first. From your other posts here, it would seem that you are using a cracked (illegal) copy.

I started off with Vue 6 Inf pre-release. It was in a hell of a state at that stage. Since then I have installed every update, and it’s got a lot better, but not completely fault free. Recently I upgraded to extreme, and that does show up a lot more problems when using it with C4D.

There is a point to be made here. Not all crashes are due to bugs. I sere a lot of users complain about bugs crashing vue. In fact it’s often system faults that cause that. You need to have a fairly clean system to run Vue. You can use it on a machine that you use for gaming, and installing junk on. Also a lot of people don’t think the graphics card is very important with Vue, as all it’s rendering is CPU based. But the graphics card is very important while you are working on a scene, and a poor grx card will slow everything down and cause crashes.

The main bugs and issues with Vue 6.5 involve the render engine, and hypervue, both of which are very inadequate. There are memory problems for sure. This is evedent if you finish with a scene, and open a new scene, and your available resources will not recover fully. Extreme is also very buggy when it comes to integration.

Who knows what Vue 7 will bring. I don’t get the impression that e-on have changed their direction at all, so I think any new features will just introduce new bugs, and the old problems will probably remain. Any news of Vue 7 at this time, unless it comes direct from e-on’s top brass, can only be treated as rumour.

For aftabmalik and anyone that got confused about where the stuffs are on e-on site (me, for example):

To get the software update you must go to “my account” > “software updates” > “click here to get the update”.

I use Vue since old, old days (Vue 1.2, less than 2 mb!).

I think in Vue as “the art of natural 3d”, like they say in e-on site. It means trees, mountains, clouds, water, wind, rain, etc.

Ok, there are some bugs here and there. But Windows has bugs too…
And the result I get worth. It really worth.

vue either has no damn documentation so i dun know what i’m doing wrong – or its buggy. but i don’t know since no-one out there seems to be very familiar with xstream with maya. i hope they just repair six before even think about seven

#15

Man, I agree with that! Vue needs more documentation.

I don’t know nothing about Xtream. So I can’t help you. Sorry.
