Vue 7 xStream and Mental Ray Help.

Could someone please put in a set by step guide on how to render in 3ds MAX 2009 while using Mental Ray and Vue 7 xStream please. I’ve had so much trouble with it, and when ever I try to render, it comes up a black render.

Hello snyperp,

You can try this tutorial I wrote. It uses Gamma 2.2 setup in Max and some adjustments in the Gamma output in Vue materials. Hope this help:

I’ve used that before, but my renders still end up being just a black screen.

Time for VUE to become a complete package. Have you called tech support?

No, but I was thinking that it’s just some setting that is screwing it up, and was hoping someone would know what it is.

A bunch of us Maya users were having this problem a few months ago. We have yet to fine a proper solution. We’ve been rendering through the render view window using some scripts. Hopefully a better fix will come around soon.

have you checked that the 'camera effects/volume shader in rendering MR setup is ticked (a vue shader should be there)?

I just looked, and its checked, but there is no shader in the slot. What is the shader called and where can i find it?

Hi im having the same problem with the batch render, rendering all black frames, and also i get errors such as Out of memory or maya just crashes while im trying to save the file. Anyone know why this could be happening and how to get around it…
any help is appreciated

Proc: Core2Duo 2.5ghz

maya 2008

i kno its a fairly old system but it shouldnt run out of memory while saving or crash…
