Vue 6 PLE Preview Window update problem on Mac

#1

Hi,

I am just trying the Vue 6 PLE in my MacBook Pro. But there is a strange behaviour with the preview window.
Sometimes it just starts to update when I move the mouse, afterwards it runs smoothly. Also someteimes if I move the mouse again, it stops updating the preview window.
The same happens in the terrain editor when using procedural terrains.
I already tried to disable the background rendering thread, but no change in behaviour.
Also tried to disable auto update for the preview window, also no change.
I have no other programs running while using Vue and I have Leopard installed.

Has anyone experienced something similar ??

Could it be that you have your display quality settings in the preferences really high? All you describe sounds like
the program is busy with something else still or with refreshing some parts of the display. Normally I would say it has to do with the preview window which is a real resource hog. Even when you said you tried to switch that off, my guess is that it is the reason for your problems.

What I and others do is to switch all views except the camera one to wireframe - to get a better responding user interface. Sometimes I even switch elements that are heavy to wireframe box when I do not need them anymore in scene setting. Makes all a lot faster.

Thanks for your quick answer, but I think there is a much deeper problem causing that.
I noticed that all dialog windows suffer from the same problem, e.g. I just open the atmosphere editor and no matter what I do there, when I press ok or cancel, the dialog disappears only when I move the mouse after the click…
Sadly enough, this behaviour does only occur in Vue on my Mac, not in any other program. I even tried another mouse !
And it does also happen when I have a clean standard scene with just a sphere in it, without a material assigned.
I guess it is a incompatibility issue specific on my Mac between the mouse/Vue/Max OS X, etc. ??
Maybe it is just a problem of the PLE version ?

However, thanks in advance for your help !
