Vray SP4 network and DR problems

#1

I am trying to install Vray on my network. Chaosgoup forum seems to be down for the day.

When I try distributed rendering, only one out of 3 network machine is participating with the local fourth one.

I get warning: Render host serverName (serverIP) is not responding.

also the one that is “working” is rendering buckets tiles that are ligther in color.

When I do regular network rendering with backburner I also get frames that are lighter in color. all 4 computer are working this way.

Mental ray render correctly on backburner. And my scene has no map. It is just a test scene. I am using mr lights in this scene cause I created it with mr at first. Could it be the cause of the color difference?

I made sure gamma and lut setting are the same on all computer.

I made sure every vray files I could think of were allowed by my firewall on each machine.

Anyone have an idea?

Does it work on a clean simple scene?

Best regards,

Hi vlado,
With a clean scene, network rendering is ok. Bur DR still has the same problem.

Finnally my big scene doesn’t have a network rendering problem. Even rendering locally on a single computer create different frames (light and dark…)

So after a week of testing and exchanging emails (like 1 every 2 days) with chaosgroup support, and also writing on numerous forums, I have not got any answer to my problem:

Vray distributed rendering is not working with 2 of my computers (out of 4).

Anyone can confirm if they got it to work at least?

thanks to Tania from Chaosgroup technical crew for pointing me to this thread:
http://www.chaosgroup.com/forums/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=46519&highlight=render+host

My problem was my 3D connexion spacepilot driver. a space pilot is a device to help navigate in 3d very usefull for 3d modeling.

but I had to rename those 2 files by adding .bak at the end to prevent them to load. on the render nodes:
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2010\Scripts\Startup\3DxStudio.ms
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2010\stdplugs\3dxstd.dlu

And now it is finally working and it works very well. It is so fast!!! I can’t believe it!!

Thanks to Tania and her crew who were very professional!

so there is an incompatibility with 3D connexion and Vray…
