vray osx to pc or pc to osx

here is some info the chaos group sent me if any one is interested on osx pc links. hope it helps

Under Mac OSX you need to share the folder with the textures, thus the Windows machines to be able to access it. This eventually means to add the credentials for access to Mac OSX from the Windows machines or to enable Guest access on Mac machine.
This will allow you to connect to the shared folder under Windows using UNC path like //[IP_Address_of_MAC]/some/folder/ where [IP_Address_of_MAC] should be substituted by the real IP or host name of Mac machine. The path for example, should look like this //10.0.0.1/some/folder.
If you plan to start the job from Mac OSX you need to add the environment variable VRAY_ASSETS_PATH with value //[IP_Address_of_MAC]/some/folder/ in Windows environment variables ( https://kb.wisc.edu/cae/page.php?id=24500 ). Then start V-Ray DR slave on Windows machines and a DR job from the Mac machine.

you don’t need to do this with the 2.45 nightlies or the 3.0 builds that have automatic asset transfer built in. It just works between all three platforms.

any idea when 3.0 will be out?

it’s public beta now. If I had to guess, I’d say 3 to 4 months
