VRay multimatte with textures

#1

hi,

quick question, I do product vis. some products have stickers on (type, logos etc.).
I use multimatte/material ID to output selection masks for post in photoshop.
when you do this on a texture, multimatte goes a bit funny. antialiasing collapses. geometry fine, any textures, rubbish. all jagged and ugly.
how do you combat this? can’t find a workaround for this. anyone know what I’m talking about?

thanks /s

Are you talking about labels, on glassware or something? For example the label on a wine bottle?

I generally just duplicate the relevant faces and offset or extrude them slightly, so the label fits the glass geometry tightly. Then control the label separately with its own shader network. It gives you a lot more control over the label and how it’s going to look, including displacement for say gilded logos and such.
