vray light material: boost light without losing color?

#1

hi all

I have been using the vray light material (maya) to try to simulate flourescent bulbs, with a slight blue color… but when I boost the intensity to get more light output, I lose the color (it goes to white)

is there a trick?
is there another method I should be looking at?

thanks very much

Adjust the original material until you get the look you like. Ignore the light it creates.

Then, adds V-ray material override to the SG node. Important. Make sure it’s the SG node.
Attached a second v-ray light material to the “GI” over ride. Play with it’s multiplier.

thanks very much–

this sounds promising, but I can’t get it to work;

I’ve added a second light material, using the GI overide slot, but nothing changes?
