Viewport Preference Problems (colors)

#1

Hi,
I was playing around with the colors under the system preferences menu.

It has “load from scheme” and “save to scheme”. I gues the scheme called model was the one that has the default model colors. I chose the “all black” color scheme and looks like when I did the “save to scheme”, I overwrote the Model (default) scheme. Now the Model scheme is all black, thus I cannot revert back to this.

Of course I Spaced off the fact of doing an undo or using command history to fix this before I closed it so now my default Model scheme is all black.

I deleted and reinstalled MODO and it comes up as all black still?/ How can this be?

Is there no “load default” or “restore defaults” type of command?

How can I get it back to how it was without manipulating the color schemes and resaving the scheme to the model one?

Please Help.

Hi,
Yes, the scheme called model is the default model colors.
-You have to choose which color scheme to save when Save to Scheme… or type a new name.
-Delete the modo.cfg instead of deleted and reinstalled MODO. After delete the modo.cfg then relaunch modo you’ll back to default.

Cheers.

Does not work.

First of all, I cannot find a “modo.cfg” file. I have deleted “mododefault.cfg”, “mododefaulylayout.cfg”, “schemes.cfg”, “prefs.cfg”, “vppresets.cfg”, “colors.cfg” and a few others and it is still the same.

Besides, all “.cfg” files reside in program files\luxology\modo\resrc. If I completely uninstall and reinstall, I Should essentially be deleting all “.cfg” files anyway, but still, nothing works.

You can find the “modo.cfg” file in your documents folder \Application Data\Luxology.
I think it’s a hidden file, so make sure to enable the display of the hidden/system files on your machine. If you delete modo.cfg all of your settings will be lost, and everything is reverted back to default.

Ahhhh… Excellent…

No wonder I could not find it. I did a file search and it found all.cfg files but this one because it was hidden. This fixed the problem.

Thanks for all the help from everybody.

hey speaking of color prefs,
i’ve tried changing colors in the prefs for the colored wireframe but no matter what color i change it to, it still remains as a black wireframe. Does anyone have an idea on this?/

Hi nessjp,
late reply, sorry about forget to point out the location of the modo.cfg. Glad you fix your pref.

Marlboro-Man:
Here is what I do to the color pref, after I change all the color I want, save to new color scheme like “My Color”… then select the 3d model view (just click on the model view), then go to Menu > View > Viewport Color Scheme > “My Color”

I think should work fine.

Cheers.

Hey Joo,

Thanks alot man. it worked…but it’s kinda long winded , the way you set your color. it’s not interactive enough… I wonder why Lux has done it this way…
