Viewport GPU RAM exceeded error

#1

I keep getting this error.

GPU texture ram exceeded, texture loading failed. Please reduce max texture resolution clamp in the Viewport 2.0 settings and retry.

I have reduced the max texture resolution clamp from 4500 to 50 and its still not showing textures. I have also deleted all the history on my mesh and optimised the scene. I am trying to render a supermarket scene (using viewport), so there are quite a few textures on all the different groceries which is why I think the scene wont load any textures. Ive tried viewport with no luck and Ive even tried just getting a very basic render and the whole scene crashes.

Any advice to get my textures to show and the scene to run would be great! Thanks

What graphics card/GPU are you using? How much VRAM does it have? 2GB is probably a baseline for what you’ll want in Maya, these days.

But also, you should clamp sizes in 2-bit increments, such as 4096 or 2048. I generally switch to 2048 when I run into this problem (using 4K textures). Make sure to click “Save” in your Viewport 2 panel and it should re-compress the visual textures (not your actual texture file nodes) and then show them properly.

I tend to favor Nvidia GPUs, perhaps this is an AMD issue? Are you using OpenGL or DirectX?

I think you should press the button “Reload All Textures” under the clamp value for it to work.
