View plane based flattening

#1

Hi! I already spent few hours for sth I think should be an easy thing, but can’t find solution. In Mudbox you can flatten the geometry based on the camera plane. How can you do this in ZBrush?

I found this in ZBrush help but there is no further explanation
“The Trim brushes are based on the Planar brushes but provide a different behavior based on the normal of the surface or the screen working plane. Compared to the Planar brush which are restricted to a clicked point on the surface, or a defined path, the Trim brushes do not have these restrictions by default.”

So, the solution should be one of the Trim brushes?!

Thanks!

Thanks. Yes, with clipping brush you can probably achieve the same result (especially when used along with masking) although it is a completely different approach. I later found the brush called TrimFront (and loaded it manually from the brushes folder) that works like the Flatten brush in Mudbox (set to camera normal).

Now I see that you can achieve the same thing with Picker menu settings.
