video editing on Blender possible?

just a VERY NOOB question: can i import video clips into Blender and edit it?

since other video editing softwares (like After Effects and Premiere Pro etc…) r very darn expensive for students, i wonder can this b possible…

oh, and not as in compositing, but plain video editing and post-production…
