I wasnt sure if this was the appropriate place to put this but since I am more Maya Centric, I figured I would give this a shot. I posted this in another thread but i feel it may get lost so I think this may be a better one.
I am also very eager to start a career in visual effects. Ive learned a lot here and there both on my own and taking classes. I am familiar with a lot of the tools involved but am looking to push my skills to the next level. to work on a body of projects that will warrant a good reel. Im not interested in going to any school right now because the bottom line is how much work, effort and passion you put in. What I am interested in is a Mentor of some sort. Sort of like animation mentor but not for animation, for vfx. Someone who can guide me towards assignments or projects that can get me from point A to Z at the shortest amount of time. I would have mainily email and telephone correspondence with this person weekly and would pay for their time.
I would like to know how would I go about finding such a person/s and where on cgtalk or other forums would be appropriate for this kind of proposition. Who knows, maybe you or someone you know may be interested. I would like comments and advice on this because I am very serious and anxious. I need someone in the industry who knows what it takes to guide me to the next level.
As I dont intend on this being free. We could work out some sort of compensation.
