*Very Good Free Resource...

I thought this would be a great link to list here. This website is one of the better art resources I have found, it has lists of juried art shows and other goodies such as tutorials, lists of national and international art organizations and lists of workshops and art classes:

Enjoy!

Thanks :), even though I never touch non cg media, it should prove quite useful before long.

Hey jmBoekestein

I think many of the tutorials can be generally applied to 2D CG work. I’ve also seen a few juried shows calling for digital art on that site. Take a browse, you may be surprised.

Thanks for the link.

Until jmBoekestein mentioned it, I didn’t realize I subconcsioucly had the same attitude. It seems most CG artist think CG art is completely seperate from the rest of the art world.

You’re welcome.

CG art is strong influenced by “traditional” art, digital is simply another medium
I strongly encourage CG folk to tap the wealth of traditional art resources for inspiration as well as education.

Will do thx :).

And the attitude develops for the obcious reasons I guess. But in the end you’re just applying colour differently but making the same stuff. Method is madness anyway :p.

edit:lol, didn’t have much to add. But when you think about it the greater wealth of art is still in traditional media.

I guess that is just because more people do traditional art then CG. You don’t need a killer computer or a 6000 dollar software, a simple pencil or brush and a canvas will do. Also, cuz traditional art’s been around for much longer.

Personally, though, I appreciate CG art more than traditional, but I admit, I am a “little” bias. lol.
