Wow. WHere did this come from. Was THIS rendered in LW. Company website
VeggiPaint..Wow..does Vue have competiton
I was very impressed with the video on the site too. I’ve got Kray & HD Instance, and this looks to be a very beneficial plug-in (I think so more for Kray as the new Instancing feature is strong but not as easy as applying [no weight map feature like HDI]). I’m going to download the demo and give it ago. I think a good compainion for something like if you’re trying to get a Vue substitute would be OnyxTrees, it’s a great way to generate the veggitation needed to clone. The whole suite package plus the plug-in would be cheaper then Vue.
Yes VeggiPaint does look like a very nice thing to have.
I’m just wondering should I invest in HDInstance at this late date? Don’t want to buy something that may be duplicated in LW v10 or in the near future.
Not too much interested in another renderer (Kray) at this point in time…

The Kray render engine is amazing & would highly recommend it. But I understand if money, or type of use would make one not be interested at it at the moment.
As for HDI, I think if NT brought instancing to LW (which I’m all for), it wouldn’t be till v10, which I would assume, even if it came out this year, would still be down the road. Secondly, this would be the first go at instancing in LW and I don’t think it would be as powerful as HDI ( much like Kray’s). I’m glad Kray has instancing so I’m not restricted to rendering in LW’s native if I want to using instancing, but I really like many of the features found in HDI (animation off set, the ability to use weight maps, etc.). Where I think VeggiePaint comes in to play is the ability to see where everything is going to be. Kray doesn’t use weight maps (to my knowledge) so this is extremely useful, and even though HDI does use weight maps (allowing one to control where to a degree where you’ll place instances), it doesn’t seem as percise as what VeggiePaint can offer. I’ve still gotta try the demo though and give it a test run.
